Friday Love Notes: Balancing Between Your Home Girls & Your Man

Balancing friends and a monogamous relationship can be a difficult task.  You want to stay loyal to your girls while being able to spend quality time with your boo.  If you go out with the ladies, your man will be salty about that and if you stay in with him, your girls will say you’re dissing them.

As hard as it is for both males and females to admit, the reason that we get so jealous about our mate going out with their friends is because we’re territorial. We know that the temptations of alcohol and flirtation will arise and we don’t want some skank rubbing up on what’s our’s.

Okay, so you’re saying, I don’t even go to the club when I’m with my girls, so why is he so jealous?  Even if you’re not going to the club, whenever you’re with your girls what do you talk about?  Men!  The last thing a person in a relationship wants is for their mate to be persuaded by their peers.

It’s easy for those who are not in your relationship to make judgments off of what they see.  Our girls can fill our heads with nonsense and then we take them back to our man as truth.

Before I go any further I have to clear something up.  I hate to sound sexist, but we can’t deny that women are more mature than men. While we girls face issues with this, I believe that guys have a harder time balancing friends and girlfriends than ladies do.  Maybe it’s just me.  But I find that guys just don’t know how to break away from their boys even when they have a beautiful girl to chill with.

I had a guy I was becoming pretty serious with.  I was out of town for a couple weeks so of course when I got back I wanted to spend time with him.  We had made plans for a weekend getaway and when I got back…plans changed.  His boys called and he went running.

Now I know his world should not have stopped for me.  But there are certain sacrifices you make when you’re in a relationship.  And if you truly enjoy that person, it will be a pleasure rather than a sacrifice to spend time with them.

Don’t get me wrong, women aren’t all pros at pleasing both their friends and their man.  There’s going to come up a point when you’re going to have to let someone down.  But I feel that we’re more willing to tell our girls, “Catch me next time.” And when we do have to disappoint our mate, we know how to make it up. ;-)

Guys on the other hand, have a loyalty to their friends that I just don’t understand.  They’re friends are like their blood brothers and there just is no pulling them a part.  Maybe our male readers can clue me in on this one.  I just feel as sex-crazy as men are, they would want to spend all of their time with a woman.  Forget your boys, they can’t do anything for you like I canJ

Some men are just so attached to their bachelor lifestyles that even when they do decide to commit they don’t know how to fully do so.  They want to have the best of both worlds and that just is not possible.

Like I briefly mentioned before, the key is balance.  When determining how to divide your time, take into consideration how important this guy is to you.  He never should consume all of your free time, but if you think he’s someone special, then it’s okay to hurt your friends’ feelings every now and then.  They’ll understand, and I’m sure there were a few times they were booed up and left you in the cold.

But there are also times that you need to be with your girls.  You can truly be yourself with them and you need to release the tension that only your hormonal female friends can relate to.  Remember guys come and go, but your friends last a life time.

The Dream Respond’s On Failed Marriage

16 July 2010

First I want to thank God for the trials of life, without them we can’t know purpose! I would love to tell the truth as to why my relationship wasn’t successful, but today that is between me and Christina. Its easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT. I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for misleading everyone into thinking everything was fine and okay when we knew problems existed for awhile! I wanted to speak up but we decided it wasn’t for anyone to know. I would NEVER intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that! There was so much going on in me and Christina’s personal world that I tried to deal with it as delicately as I could and tried to regain my footing. Instead of being direct in order not to cause even more hurt or hurt someone’s feelings, I carried the weight in secret! I am Human and people fall in and out of Love all the time… This is Life. Nothing’s promised or perfect, neither am I. I am not proud that I lost something we once had…LOVE! I’ve always been a Loving Father, Hard Worker, Generous, Stern and Eager to prove myself. My faults are I can be irresponsible and an ass sometimes, but I HAVE NEVER and WILL NEVER be a malicious person or wish harm to anyone, especially those I love or the mother of my child. I’m sorry for the embarrassment to everyone involved! If there’s anyone to blame and you can’t fathom this happening, please blame me and me alone for not being upfront! Even though we were trying to overcome personal things between us, I was just simply scared and embarrassed to let everyone know we WERE FAILING and HAVE NOW FAILED! This is not to justify anything, it’s true emotion! It’s a real thing that involves real people! I’ve cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I’ve tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming. But I was reminded by my MOTHER that I am not “Superman” and its okay to lose sometimes… This too shall pass! And everything will be fine! ~ Terius Nash ~ I think that about sums it up, although Christina’s camp is being messy and painting her as the “victim”. I think this will get a lot messier before it’s over.  I don’t understand why the victim who was reportedly verbal abused in the marriage still insists on wearing her wedding ring.  I would be happy to pawn that big ass rock!
