Another new track from the Levi’s Pioneer Sessions. Levi’s asked some of today’s top musician’s from every genre to cover song’s from artist that have inspired their sound. Nas chose Slick Rick’s Hey Young World, which is fitting.

Nas doesn’t possess Rick’s comic sensibility, but he did inherit from Rick a keen sense for the way precise detail and carefully chosen perspective can enrich a short story, the kind that populated Illmatic and his subsequent work. Nas’ re-crafting of “Hey Young World” is true to its source, though its harder, metallic edges suggest a bluntness caused by twenty-plus years without progress.

Sent over from one of my favorite up and coming singers, Keiry Vida Valdez. She has like a folksy sound, not R&B really although with her vocal power I’m sure she can take it there.  Her track Winter premiered here in January and it’s still one of the most popular songs to date.  As I said before, who she most reminds me of is Jewel, but with a little more sass. The upcoming singer, who recently received accolades for producing Cee-Lo’s new track Fuck You, performed a new track of his own at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC.   It’s easy for him to premiere new songs since we don’t have an album from him yet and I can’t wait until we get more details about his debut.

We love Choklate and could never Overdose on her.  She dropped her video for Grown Folks back in May and Tha Bizness released this track featuring Drake today to the net.

Gotta love a guy with gauges almost as much as you have to love creative summery videos.  This is off of Carlitta’s Doug & Patty EP and is directed by Napoleon Wright II.

Although I’m not a big fan of Lupe’s attitude to say the least I love when rapper’s collab with the unlikely like UNKLE.  I posted their video for Follow Me Down back in May and they are already prepping to release a new EP called The Answer.
