Like in your dreams. But little do you know that when your back is turned, your man can turn into a whole new person and he no longer belongs to just you. This issue has been irritating me. Guys who say that they love you and the second you’re …

The battle for control has been the cause for rocky relationships since before christ, smh. So I know the Bible says that woman is supposed to submit to her man. And I’m all for the man being the “head of the household” (or at least letting him believe he is). …

Balancing friends and a monogamous relationship can be a difficult task. You want to stay loyal to your girls while being able to spend quality time with your boo. If you go out with the ladies, your man will be salty about that and if you stay in with him, …

While driving to work one day (in my 2 door car with no baby seat) it hit me. I’m edging closer to 30, I’m still single and I’m perfectly ok with that. In the middle of the night last week, I received a text from a friend who was pregnant the last …

The media keeps ripping apart black women with different reasons why we cant’ find a man and we won’t get married. Everyone has had their own experiences and relationships and it is wrong to streotype any group of people by the missteps made by a few. No matter what color you …

Expect another reality show soon folks. This time starring Fabolous’s “wifey” Emily B “along side a few other women whose lives are similar to mine”. I guess that means rap “wifey’s”? In Mashonda’s new weekly series on Vibe.com called Pandora’s Box she interviews good friend and girlfriend of rapper Fabolous. Should be interesting, Emily B comes across as a normal chick that’s not fazed by much BS so it will be fascinating to me to see that relationship on TV, ya’ll know I’m nosy.
Mashonda: How did you meet Fabolous?
Emily: I met him in 2002 at an event. He sent his brother over to me to get my attention. I told his brother, “If he wants to talk to me, tell him to come here”. He was there promoting his album. When he finally walked over to me, I asked him why did he send his brother. Why couldn’t he talk to me himself? His response was: “I’m shy”. Those words, and his soft-spoken tone, won me over instantly.
How did you finally get to New York?
After seeing each other off and on for 3 years, and spending our summers together, he finally asked me to move to NY to be with him. We built a friendship and we used it to develop our future. It took some time before we got physical; we talked a lot and had a lot of the same passions. I remember the first time he told me he loved me. I couldn’t believe that he said the words. It was a lot for him as well. I knew he was serious when he asked me to move in with him. He said “I have an extra room for your daughter, and bring your Yorkie too.”
I know you struggle with Fabolous “the rapper.” Why do you think entertainers let their jobs come between their morals?
These guys struggle with image. Its about bottle popping, women and money. Sometimes I feel like I don’t fit into the Fabolous life, but, I’m a major part of his world. I dress him, but I’m not a part of his brand. I can tell the difference. Having a family is not a topic a rapper can rap about. I respect it, but I fall back, play my position as his life partner. I have no choice because he had that career before he met me
Of course Mashonda had to get her parting dig in:
The element of love is somewhat the same as the element of freedom—both are worth fighting for. I look at Emily, a mother of two fantastic children, and see a strong woman with an amazing story. However, there is a struggle that exists. When in love with a person that practically lives in a false world, there might always be a battle.
I love to post about new female voices and this girl kind of reminds me of Pink with less steel. But mainly I’m just happy to see Lil Kim back and looking great too! Get it Kimmy, I need to get on her ab work out plan, she must be watching Kim K’s video. *sucks in stomach* spotted at Rap-Up
I love hearing David Letterman announce rappers it just sounds so weird *snickers*. Big Boi performs my joint Follow Us with Vonnegutt which has grown on me. I hope he releases Be Still with Janelle Monae, that’s the song that’s most stuck in my head.
I am not on the Fantasia pity party train. I believe that you create your own reality and if you make your bed you lie in it. You don’t complain, cry and wait for some hero to come and put a smile on your face and make all your pain worth it. Most of that ish is not worth it because it’s self-inflicted. Girl, tell those mf’er’s in your household get the eff out and get a damn job. Hell, just a few years ago you were broke too. Nobody tried to kill Fantasia, she chose what she felt was the easy way out and tried to commit suicide *side eye* (we don’t believe you, you need more people). Then the next day your management releases a statement that tried to let Fantasia off the hook by claiming she was misled by Antuan Cook. This is despite the fact that the pictures of them together surfaced months ago, then his wife came out and said they were still together. Why does she deserve pity or our financial support? Fantasia is a grown woman who seems to be making immature decisions. Now she is spinning those decisions into album sales and a reality show and it’s sickening to me.
I mean let’s compare Fantasia to Jennifer Hudson. She started her career in a similar fashion and she also experienced extreme personal tragedy with having all but one of the member’s of her immediate family brutally murdered. She picked herself up and rebuilt her life little by little with a new child and a blossoming career. Now that is admirable and deserving of praise.
Fantasia’s career has been built on this woe is me “victim” image and as a strong women it makes me cringe. That image is not admirable it’s embarassing. No, I don’t want Fantasia to be ridiculed for her sick sad life of being taken advantage of, but at what point does one take responsibility for enabling those situations to occur? Have you ever had that friend who bad things always seem to happen to? It’s a cycle, she said herself that she constantly has been used. That is the addiction, that is why she didn’t commit suicide.
How selfish for this woman who has been given so much to complain about how committing suicide “didn’t work and she’s still in her hell hole” when she has a daughter to live for.
Excerpt from management’s press release about alleged suicide attempt via Miss Bitchie :
Fantasia will be stronger, smarter, and better for it. Her work has always inspired her and served as a source of strength. Her new album, “Back To Me,” will be released on August 24th.
The lyrics to “I’m Here” say it best:
“I Believe I Have Inside Of Me
Everything That I Need To Live A Bountiful Life
With All The Love Inside Of Me
I’ll Stand As Tall As The Tallest Tree
And I’m Thankful For Each Day That I’m Given
Both The Easy And The Hard Ones I’m Livin’
But Most Of All
Yes, I’m Thankful For Lovin’ Who I Really Am”Fantasia sends her praise to God and her eternal gratitude to her fans, friends, and family.
God is good.
All hail the spin machine. I believe that Fantasia believe’s the bullshit she is saying in this ABC video below. thanks YBF for the pics
Another weird creature is showcased in this desert set video for Brooklyn band MGMT’s new single Congratulations. Nicki state’s that she is not satisfied with her place in the rap game right now. She say’s that she doesn’t think she has a big enough fan base right now. I don’t think it’s the size it’s the purchasing power of her fan base that probably concern’s her or should.
