Video: bestylistik.com Interviews Muffy

@Muffmommy is a fool! lol I so want that cupcake pillow!

I attended her Bday party at Gold Room in Atlanta on Monday. Jermaine Dupri was in the place along with Ms. SNL aka Shanell, Bangladesh, Brian Michael Cox and other people I probably should recognize but didn’t. I also met Tameka Raymond who was sweet and very pretty. She came up to me and complemented me on my attire and asked where I purchased my leggings, Forever 21 baby! Speaking of Forever 21 ha anyone else noticed the bible verse on the bottom of the bag? What’s up with that?

Soldier Of Love Is Sade’s 8th Top 10 Album

Photobucket
This should come as no surprise, congrats Sade. You must be a soldier to fight to be yourself and win.

For a second consecutive week, SOLDIER OF LOVE, retains the # 1 spot on the charts fending off the competition with 694,000 units sold. The album exploded onto the charts last week selling an astonishing 502,000 copies making it the best sales week for an album by a group since AC/DC in 2008.

SOLDIER OF LOVE marks Sade’s eighth album to rank in the top 10 among Billboard’s 200 making them the first group since Led Zeppelin to hold this accomplishment. The attention grabbing first single “Soldier of Love” continues to heat up the airwaves across multiple radio formats and the video remains one of the most played videos for two consecutive months

Entertainment Weekly featured SOLDIER OF LOVE in their “Must List” and gave the album an “A”, Rolling Stone wrote, “it’s unimpeachably excellent,” and The Boston Globe calls it, “a rich and rewarding album.” But the accolades don’t stop there. Associated Press raved, “like a long-ago lover not quite forgotten, Sade has returned to steal our hearts with more beautiful, uncategorizable music,” Billboard was quoted as saying, “it’s been 10 years since Sade released an album, but be forewarned – the giant has awoken,” while People Magazine reminds us that “Sade remains the voice of comfort to the wounded heart.”

Known for their one of a kind timeless sound, Sade has enjoyed phenomenal success both internationally and stateside throughout the span of their twenty-five year career. Since the release of their debut album, Diamond Life in 1984 the band has seen all five of their studio albums land in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart selling a total of more than 50 million albums worldwide to date. They’ve been nominated for American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and have won three Grammy Awards – first in 1986 for Best New Artist, then in 1994 for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group for “No Ordinary Love”, and again in 2002 for Best Pop Vocal Album with Lovers Rock.

Sa’Mya Releases ‘Passport To Fame’ Mixtape

Sa’Mya introduces herself and her new mixtape to us via a refreshing car ride interview.  The mixtape itself opens up with a skit of a record exec trying to tell her that no one wants to hear her sound and no one would buy it. I beg to differ.

Just from listening to one song and interacting with her on her rapidly growing Twitter page, Sa’Mya comes across as the home girl you could talk to about anything. She’d listen to you cry about a lost love, then tell you “suck it up sis, there are plenty of fish in the sea!” Very fun but real. Her “Pop Soul” sound especially stands apart from her sister Marsha Ambrosious’ because it has a lot less maudlin and a whole lot more get back.

Unfortunately, the mixtape release event is this weekend in Atlanta and I won’t be back until next weekend.  :-( But yes, I’m moving back finally! Fare thee well DMV, I’m an adopted Georgia peach who longs for home. I’ll be back in the A next weekend and hopefully Sa’Mya’s and my schedule will cross up soon so I can interview her.

Definitely pop the top for the tracklisting and download link and thank you for supporting Good Music.

Audio: Yung Cal “Get Away” [Freestyle]

Over one of my favorite beats ever it’s easy to grimace expecting an unknown rapper to hold his own when compared to Mobb Deep. Often times I post new music to give artist’s shine. More shine does equal more grind, and obviously Yung Cal deserves some light even if only for a minute and half.

JLie puts a lot of character in his rhymes without overdoing it.  He sounds like the funny, cool kid from high school.  I guess that’s why he’s your girlfriend’s favorite rapper.
