Like in your dreams. But little do you know that when your back is turned, your man can turn into a whole new person and he no longer belongs to just you. This issue has been irritating me. Guys who say that they love you and the second you’re …

The battle for control has been the cause for rocky relationships since before christ, smh. So I know the Bible says that woman is supposed to submit to her man. And I’m all for the man being the “head of the household” (or at least letting him believe he is). …

Balancing friends and a monogamous relationship can be a difficult task. You want to stay loyal to your girls while being able to spend quality time with your boo. If you go out with the ladies, your man will be salty about that and if you stay in with him, …

While driving to work one day (in my 2 door car with no baby seat) it hit me. I’m edging closer to 30, I’m still single and I’m perfectly ok with that. In the middle of the night last week, I received a text from a friend who was pregnant the last …

The media keeps ripping apart black women with different reasons why we cant’ find a man and we won’t get married. Everyone has had their own experiences and relationships and it is wrong to streotype any group of people by the missteps made by a few. No matter what color you …

“This is a cold war do you know what you’re fighting for?” This video gave me chills, literally. Cold War is the second single off J. Monae’s latest album, The ArchAndroid. She also will be going on tour with the band Of Montreal starting on September 13. The video is as spare as D’Angelo’s How Does It Feel? without anyone of the sexuality, but all of the rawness.
Janelle Monae’s Tightrope walk is not quite over yet and this one is actually a little hotter than the original with a hip hop rock sway to it. B.o.B. opens the rocked out version of the song and Lupe’s mathematical sounding rhymes even does it credit. But the best verse award goes to Janelle who actually spits a rap verse. A really good one. And for all you haters who keep complaining about her black and white wardrobe, she wants you to check the pages of Vogue where she lays out. ;-O Diddy bring back the remix!!

Of Montreal is really of Athens, GA and they have performed with my Janelle quite alot. So much in fact that I wonder why I’ve never heard of them before. Luckily, internet research is pretty much my favorite thing to do. The internet is like a gold mine of wonderful musical trinkets and Cmongood has more keys then a xlyophone. I don’t think I’m incorrect in saying that Janelle is like a newer, doper, more talented Kelis in her prime. Or what we wish Kelis could have grown into had she stuck with Neptunes’. Slightly off topic but I’m a blogger and I’m sensitive bout my shit. My shit being my opinions on music, as you know. ![]()
Janelle Monae album The Archandroid in stores right now.
The song is the first single from the artist’s full-length “The ArchAndroid,” due May 18. I’m glad to see she didn’t lose her sound this past year and I look forward to the rest of what will undoubtedly be one of 2010 best albums.
Pop the top for a video of her performing the track
